The African Queen

At the start of World War 1, German imperial troops invade Africa. Rose Sayer, a strait-laced missionary, must join an ill-mannered bachelor, Charlie Allnut, on an old river steamboat named The African Queen. Together they embark on a long difficult journey. Rose grows determined to assist in the British war effort and pressures Charlie until he finally agrees to help. Together, they travel up the Ulana River. They encounter an enemy fort, raging rapids, bloodthirsty parasites and an endlessly branching river which always seem to lead them to impenetrable marshes. Despite opposing personalities, the two grow closer to each other and ultimately carry out their plan to destroy a German warship
